With views of Buzzards Bay, Bold View is a masterfully crafted landscape that creates a series of outdoor living spaces. At its core, the project celebrates the dynamic contrast between rugged natural elements and refined modern architecture, offering a bold yet harmonious sense of place.

The siting of the house was fundamental to the success of the design. The project team conducted thorough studies of view corridors, and topography to ensure optimal visual connections to Buzzards Bay from the main interior living space. This careful elevational placement enables a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments, grounding the architecture within its coastal context.

A distinctive feature of the arrival sequence is the elevated front entry bridge that connects the driveway to the front door. This element not only extends the foyer into the outdoors but also pays tribute to the owner's father, a bridge engineer—infusing the landscape with personal meaning.

Privacy and spatial definition are achieved through layers of structured concrete walls slicing contextual planting, which privatize and define the outdoor rooms. The extension of architectural wall elements into the landscape serve to enhance the sense of privacy and blur the lines between indoors and outdoors, while still allowing a comfortable flow throughout the site. A mix of shrubs frame the property edges, reinforcing views toward the bay while still providing solitude from neighboring parcels.

Throughout the landscape, site salvaged boulders are used as sculptural counterpoints to the clean lines of the architecture. These boulders interrupt paving in select areas, adding texture and grounding the landscape. In the outdoor shower, a large boulder is repurposed as a ledge for towels and toiletries, while at the fire feature, another becomes an organic seating element—each instance reinforcing the dialogue between natural form and functional modern design.
